I graduated from NAIT (in Alberta) with my EMR. And am now preparing for the ACP exam at the end of this month. It has been awhile (about 8 months) since I got my EMR and I'm a little rusty on the scenarios...

I'm pretty much looking for some insight as to what the exam is like. How hard is the scenario? Some examples of scenarios you've been tested on? Any specific techniques that I should absolutely make sure I know?
I've also heard that as of April the ACP exam has changed? Does anyone have any information on this?
*And will I be required to perform CPR no matter what?

Sorry, I'm freaking out about this exam... I know I'll do fine on the written, but I get super nervous when it comes to scenarios...

Hi Britt, I took my ACP EMR exam a couple of years ago, I'm not sure if it's changed much since then, but I can give you a little bit of insight into it.
My scenario was for a teenage girl that had been hit by a van at low speed, I think she had a fractured leg and nothing else, so it was pretty simple, the thing that threw me off was that she was A&O x 4 with no loss of consciousness so she was a stay and stabilize instead of a load and go, and I hadn't practised a single stay and stabilize scenario because I was always told that it would always be a load and go, haha.
I don't think it's very likely that you'll be required to do CPR, but make sure you know all your indication, contra indications and side effects, because if you forget a bunch of those, they can add up pretty quickly, also make sure you know the critical things like c-spine control, load and go criteria, stuff like that, that if you miss, could result in an immediate fail.

I was super nervous for my scenario as well, but as long as you've practised a bunch of times, the test in my experience was actually pretty easy.
