How Do You Use Your Radio During An Overnight Shift?

After a while someone could whisper my unit number and I'd wake up. But I just keep the radio on. We also had pagers though
 
My radio can be muted so that it only sounds if my ambulance is toned out. I keep it by my bedside and unmute it as soon as the tones drop to hear the dispatch info.
 
What are you guys talking about? My radio is set to go off at specifically the time I want to wake up, typically sounding off the news or some nice music.
