We have a hard time getting together for chats but we have just as much fun on the posts.

Tell us a little about yourself...where your from, where do you work? Or are you in school? Etc...
 
Ok

I am 29 years old work as an full time EMT -B in a small town called Naboomspruit in South Africa. I used to work on a big station but got sick of it and moved to a smaller town where I thought it would be quieter but suprise suprise it never happened. The station where I am situated is about 6 km from the national highway and believe me we can get busy at times.

I am one of those people that started with EMS work when I was still in school and just continued after I finished and never looked back. We run a full time rescue unit as well as three full time EMS units. In South Africa the EMS and Fire units work seperately but we get training in both fields, it helps specialy in the small towns we work as a team together, we know exactly what the others have to do and visa versa.

We do about 250 - 300 call outs per month depends on the time of the year during the school holidays it can go up to about 350 - 400 depends. We run on a three shifts 12 hour rotation so nights can get long and lonely if nothing comes in.

Sometimes we get frustrated of bordom but sometimes we don't sleep at all.

Well this is a great place to start. We actually have another member here who is in South Africa as well, I'm sure he'll be leaving a post here soon.

We really do need to try to coordinate another chat night soon. I've been here for a while now and still haven't been in a chat with the gang yet!
