I need help with how to backboard a pt. I have a job interview and I feel underprepared for the skills part of the interview mostly in back boarding. I didn't practice as much as I should have when I was in EMT class and now I'm stressing. So my question is, what is your method of using D-ring straps on backboarding? Where do you start? I know all the ways to get the pt on the board but strapping is where I'm drawing a blank.

YouTube videos are your friend.

That's what I've been trying to do, but all the videos I've found are either spider, or just simple buckle straps.

Sorry, my answer to D rings is to replace them.
We used to use actual automobile seat belts in the old days. PRIMO!

Just like you did for your EMT practical Test.

1. Have one person hold C-spine and count the logroll of the patient.
2. have you and another person hold onto the patients body and logroll appropriately as a unit.
3. palpate the posterior for any DCAP-BTLS
4. Roll patient onto backboard I've learned that if you bring the backboard up at an 45* Angle when you roll them onto it it makes it easier to have the patient on it.
5. As a unit scissor the patient up and down to center them onto the backboard
6. Strap patient Torso, legs, Head. Use D-Rings as a substitute for the straps. I've never used D-Rings before so I can't exactly state how to use them.

Good Luck..

Instructions above by Unleashed are great. I'd accent the use of hips and shoulder girdle as the levers to turn the pt IF the injuries are not there. The 45 deg pre tilt is new to me and a face-planter…why weren't we taught that in 1977?
