Hi everyone. New guy here from Wisconsin. I've been browsing the forums for a while now but finally decided to sign up and throw my 2 cents around.
I've been a First Responder or an EMR whatever they call it now for about 3 years and finally decided I wanted to do EMS for a career. I Went through EMT-B class first semester this year and passed the NR first try. I'm signed up to take EMT-P course starting in fall 08 so I've got 6 months yet. I'm not working anywhere as an EMT-B, only one service around here will use Basics and they're a volunteer service. I don't want to start that debate but I need money to pay for school.
I worked for our local ambulance service in the office as a High School intern so I've been around EMS in various areas for a while. In the future I plan to work for that company as a medic and possibly become a Critical Care medic but my mom is very good friends with the head of our local flight team and she has decided that as the Flight Nurses move on she will be replacing them with Paramedics. Helicopters are always something that has interested me so I might be going that route in the future but for now I'm just glad to be moving forward and learning every day.
