Hello all. I'm a nineteen year old female who just got my EMT-B cert in PA in May. Since then, I've gotten my EVOC as well. Being so young, my resume is very limited, and I just can't seem to find a job, anywhere. I've applied to transport companies, hospitals, AMR, you name it. I've even tried to apply for internships and volunteering, but it seems no one is biting. I want to get some experience as an EMT because I plan on going to paramedic school next fall, and I'm just wondering if any of you have ANY advice as to how I can get somebody to notice me..

The only thing I can think of offhand is to make physical or phone contact with people. It works better than simply sending applications. Also, even if someone isn't hiring, ask if they know anyone who is. They are in the business, and might know what everyone else is up to, especially in EMS (everyone knows everything going on around them in ems).

Always visit with the crews. See them at a restaurant visit with them. If enough of them get to know and like you they might have the influence to get you hired. Often it's not what you know it's who you know. But a word of caution don't do it in such a way as to become known as a badge bunny.
