So, i was offered an EMT-B position at a local hospital (the best in the area) and was pretty stoked about it. But i had to pass the lift test, which i failed because my hand cramped right at the end and i kept drooping the backboard and couldn't get it back on the cot. I was pretty upset. They told me i'd have another shot at it after 30 days if a position was available. Well, the thirty days was up this week and there was a position available. I havent heard a thing from them. I've been working all I can at strengthening my hand and arms to pass this. I called the HR lady, the hiring manager and even stopped by his office twice, just to miss him. No one will return my calls or even let me know what is going on. I just want a simple call back, even if they say they've found someone else but still have me in mind. Is this too much to ask? What should I do? I even took the week long training unpaid that they only offer every few months so i could have a foot-in. If they hire someone else, they'd have to wait a few months to take this training and I can start right away because I already have it. I've been applying at other agencies but am not hearing anything back from them either. Suggestions? I'm pretty bummed about the whole situation and know I can do the job, and pass my test.
