Checked NREMT's site today and saw that I got assigned my P number. It's taken a little bit but I finally did it! Now that I'm out of school what's the best way to keep current on my knowledge and skills? I subscribe to EMS World and JEMS. Any other tips? I start my EMS bachelors in the fall.

Congrats on your new gold patch.

I would subscribe to medscape

My subscription there continues to be very useful.

Congrats!!!

Don't ever stop learning. Research everything... medications, illnesses- everything you can get your hands on. You'll learn tons.

This site is a great resource for information, too. :)

Best thing to do is cancel your JEMS subscription and disregard anything you "learned" from them thus far.

"I need more cowbell!!!!!"

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Congrats! I constantly talk with other medics as well as our QA/QI director along with researching things when I run into something I don't know or need to refresh. We get monthly CEUs for free too so that helps.

Do you know if they do student discounts?

No clue on EMS world.

Out of curiosity why an EMS bachelors? You could be moving towards a real healthcare profession or mid level masters.

PA is the goal and there is a BS program about two hours from me that let's me graduate in 2 years rather than starting all over from scratch.
