Hey everyone & thanks for any advice given in advance!

I recently moved to Georgia from Maryland where Advanced Emt is not a requirement for a paramedic program. You could go from Emt-B to paramedic.
Here in Georgia, I've learned that it is a preferred requirement to go advanced to become a paramedic. At grady they let Nremt B's enter their paramedic program on a case by case basis.
My question is, would I be missing anything vital if I didn't certify as an AEMT before entering a paramedic program? Would I be short changing myself skipping out on aemt?

Thanks in advance!

Depends on which school and what the school requires. I live less than 10 miles from one school that will accept a basic with no question. The school I went to 35 miles from me requires AEMT, but will accept a basic on case by case basis.

Hello! I also recently moved to GA from MD. As far as Grady accepting B's for their Paramedic program, it is possible if you have a Bachelors degree in a biology or other science field. But, they are more likely to take you if you had taken B at Grady and the instructors know you. Also, something that I've considered is having trouble being able to land a job as a medic with no AEMT experience (or 911 call experience). I am in the last few weeks of the B program at Grady and am moving onto AEMT next. If you have any questions about their program, let me know!

I mean, the only "benefit" of having experience as an AEMT is the ability to start IVs in the field. AEMTs are still BLS, I dont think that having your AEMT would be a huge plus.

Many of the 911 services in GA don't use basics. (Mine doesn't.) A is the entry point.
