I usually supply my own stuff that I carry in my pack, as I work in the wilderness providing emergency care. I'm wondering, does the Johnson & Johnson Band-Aid branded gauze wraps and gauze pads you get from Wal-Mart have any comparison to actual trauma medical companies like North American Rescue?

So far the only difference I've really found is usability. The Band-Aid gauze I have to cut open with my shears, whereas the NAR gauze has tabs and tear points. Do you guys have a preference for the gauze you use, or am I comparing pancakes to pancakes here?

It seems like North American Rescue products are of higher quality, but they also cost more.

For personal use I buy the significantly cheaper products I can find at Wal-Mart.

Gauze is pretty much just gauze unless it has a form of quick-clot in it. I’d personally use which ever one I could get for cheap. I tend to find that my home first aid kit has the same gauze that my work carries.. strange
