Wishing the firefighter a full and speedy recovery
Clearly the firefighter instigated the situation, and the police officer failed to de-escalate the situation, failed to recognize that the individual had mental health issues and was in crisis, and decided to use force instead of getting the person the mental healthcare that he desperately needed. He was probably a former ICE officer; you know how violent those people get, especially about those who don't look like them. Who else wants to head down to Wrightsville with me and protest outside the police station demanding this officer be fired? At least the GBI is investigating; I hope they charge this officer for his crime, as the family deserves justice. I hear Ben Crump and Al Sharpton are evaluating the situation, and determining if they should sue both the police and fire departments.

And the news can't even get the story right... there was no machete involved at all!!! It's all a cover up!

With a certain conspiracy theorist currently taking some time off from the forum, I figured someone needed to inject some completely baseless claims into this story, completely devoid of facts, because... well, orange man bad?

I hope the firefighter recovers from his injuries, and the officer is cleared of any wrongdoing.

I'm assuming the guy in question isn't here to speak for himself. Maybe I don't see things his way, but I feel lots of the same frustration he probably does about so many sudden changes to the society we grew up with. Whether life ends up better or worse than it was, it'll take me some time to get used to the new normal, especially the parts about how we treat each other and how government works. Not sure about you, but so far, I'm not better off.

While the effort put in to accomplish that level of trolling is respectable, there really is no need for it anymore.

understandable...

sounds like a great idea for a new off duty thread....

And for the record, changes do happen, and while some things have improved, there is still a lot of work that needs to happen. and, also for the record, I don't agree with everything that the new administration is doing.

Given how political discussions end up, let me just say this: every side has issues and problems that should concern everyone. No side has the perfect, ultimate solution and if you think they do you're part of the problem.
