I wanna know how he's stretched out a murder case for 5 years and was able to continue working after that?
 
Homicide cases take years to prosecute due to the complexity of the issues, attorneys, etc.

Like @CCCSD said and the fact he's supposed to be presumed innocent until proven guilty
 
Oh yeah. That pesky innocent until proven guilty thingy.
I mean sure.

That said - do you want to work with a partner with active murder charges? Do you want a medic taking care of your memaw who has probable cause to say he murdered his wife?

What about after he tried to light the helicopter on fire? Doesn't take a detective to deduce he was probably trying to crash the aircraft to die a "hero", **** the pilot and nurse with him I guess.

I'm also okay with the totality of circumstances.. I think each case can be handled individually on their own merit/details.
That makes more sense
