Any FL EMT-P's on here heard of medics drawing ABGs in the ED setting? Anyone have any input on the legalities?

At the hospitals I worked and the ones I am familiar with, only Respiratory or Physicians did ABGs. I do not know of hard and fast rules about who can and cannot because as flight medics we were allowed.

if i remember correctly if you are trained and have a medical director to cover and sign off on it you can do it. I have only heard of RT doing them and I have worked at a few hospitals

What you do within hospital walls rarely has anything to do with your PREhospital certifications or scope of practice, and is based entirely on what the hospital needs of you-- and what the DON/doctors authorize/train you to do...
