Man that felt good. We were called to assist a local county unit(about 7 miles away) for a working code, female in her 50's, and the crew on scene did not have a medic. I had been worried about this situation happening but when we got on scene things just started to happen, I knew what drugs to give with each rhythm, when to shock and when not to shock, capnography, etc. When I saw a spike in the ETCO2 I knew we had a pulse and sure enough we did. Things just fell into place.... I'm sure it wasn't perfect but it sure did boost my confidence level and gave me affirmation that maybe some of this stuff I learned in class did stick.

Congrats and good job!

Job well done.

Get the chart number and try to follow up and see if they make it out of hospital.

I've had 2 out of hospitals this year it's a good feeling.

well done

Good job!

Certainly agree with trying to follow up on the ultimate outcome. Just extubated a successful post code arrest we treated with therapeutic hypothermia and I'm sure the medics who Initially brought this pt in would like to know.

Doc, can you reach out to the crew that brought him in? If not the crew directly, maybe a supervisor than can pass on info...

In many cases, the misunderstood HIPAApotamus stomps on any chance for follow up by the medics... Even though it's completely appropriate and allowed.

Should be able to. We still have the EMS run sheets with all the info on it. As far as I know we don't have any formal process in place where they can follow up on patients.

Great! It does give you a sense of validation. i never get tired of heaing about field saves.

Congrats! I hope someday I can have a story like this of my own..

Good Job!

Congratulations from a fellow VA I-99! The confidence boost will serve you and your patients well!
