Firefighter denies manslaughter of farmer 'who was trampled to death by cows spooked by engine's siren'
A fireman pleaded not guilty yesterday to the manslaughter of a farmer who died after he was trampled by his own herd of cows.
Julian Lawford was driving a fire engine near Harold Lee's farm just as the 75-year-old was herding up to 70 cattle to his milking parlour.
Mr Lee's family have said that the cattle went berserk after apparently being upset by the siren and blue flashing lights of the fire engine at Burtle, Bridgwater, Somerset, in August 2009.
