Hey guys. I know there are more than a few fire guys/gals here. I've been flirting heavily with jumping into the fire, no pun intended, side of EMS. My buddy from high school is at South Metro in Denver, loves it and wants me to apply. They put you through their own academy if you're a paramedic. And I know of Portland too. But I was wondering if any of you know of good departments that will do similar for seasoned paramedics?? I would rather get on a department and go thru their program than try to get my FFI on some distance-ed program (no offence Training Division) on my own. Most job postings I ever see already want you to be a firefighter. I don't care about location at all.

Many places will put you through their academy (and pay you along the way) as long as you have a valid paramedic certs, provided you pass their entrance exams. the DC metro area is almost entirely FF/PM in county based systems, and they hire every year
