Brown is burnt out and no longer cares and increasingly finds this manifesting as saying bad words as jobs get dropped onto his terminal and getting short with people including other Officers

Brown is tired of crappy politics and insular thinking

Brown can no longer tolerate limiting his inquizitive nature for clinical knowledge

Brown promises just as soon as he gets Mrs Brown and Mini Brown's sorted out he will go to medical school and become a flying doctor with the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service

Oscar 5 calls Ambulance, Officer Brown off watch, night crew requested.

It's tough. Sorry you're running through a rough patch.

Brown is burnt out and no longer cares and ...

...and jumping into Doc school and then in to a Whirlybird is not gonna help. All that changes is the altitude of the politics!

Take care of yourself before you push yourself to be more. For now, be okay with where you're at and let everyone else take care of themselves. Don't push, don't resist, do the work.

The caring part is a Big yellow flag; If you can't get to care where you're at you're not going to start caring elsewhere.

Brown still cares but finds himself wanting to think on a level that is above what is accepted as being required in the Ambulance Service.

Well, if you want to think on a level above the ambulance service, the helicopter service sounds like a good plan. Helicopters are definitely above ambulances (except when they have to land at the scene, of course).

You're a funny bugger :D

Well, JJ what part exactly are you talking about? The whirly parts are still above most politicians even when landed on the ground. ;)

Chin up Brown.

From one med school wannabe to another...can I ask how old you are? Or is that asking too personal of a question? I wish I was already in medschool and the longer it takes the less likely it seems to happen. How much further do you have to go to get your doctor jumpsuit?

I've been EXTREMELY POd and irritable at work lately, cursing if it was a BS call we just received.

I attribute it to not only a partner that I don't get along well with, and that I do almost strictly IFTs with very little to break the monotony.

I just push through thinking of the BIG BUCKS I'll be seeing on my paycheck (HA!)

Wow, that didn't take that long at all!

I attribute the vast majority of it to my partner, as when I'm with different EMTs, or even other medics, I'm fine.

I still love my job though, the career, and love meeting the people I meet.

Do you genuinely detest your current regular partner, or is it just a case of familiarity breeding contempt?

Just the most recent one:

Arguing with me and telling me I'm wrong after I tell him the Narcan does NOT reverse the effects of Marijuana.

You tell me :)

OT, I just watched an episode of Cops and one of the officers was talking up the greatness of Narcan on opiate ODs. This was after a guy dropped (passed out and went into respiratory distress) right in front of the Cops after being arrested. Cops recognized the OD, and kept the guy alive until EMS arrived. Nice to see good cops on the street.

Best wishes to you Mr. Brown.
