What is the cost of EVOC and testing to get Ambulance Drivers Licence?

i don't think there is such a thing as an ambulance drivers license. at least not in texas. the best way to do evoc is to get hired on with a company and they will take care of it. congrats on becoming an emt!!!

moderators, she posted 3 threads for the same topic, if you could merge them or delete them

First of all, welcome to EMTLife! I hope you enjoy your time here and learn a lot. Second, please only post a question once-- no need to duplicate or triplicate the same query.

There have been MANY discussions here about the California Ambulance Drivers License. Please refer to some of the below links for more info.

If you chose to take EVOC through AMR, check out this website.

You are also going to need a county certification.

All of the above is required for certification and to work in CA. In order to work in GA, you are going to need your National Registry card (which I presume you already have). If you dont, check out our NREMT sub-forum, specifically the stickied posts for more information.

For information about GA OEMS, check out http://www.ems.ga.gov/ where you should be able to find information about applying for state certification.

Good Luck!

Welcome to the site! I'm taking EVOC this weekend... I have to pay $55 for the class then I have to pay the state $35 for the privilege of being certified... then another $35 after I get my NR ticket to be a state certified EMT (after I get hired - I have to have med direction agreement in order to get my state patch). Oh, that's not including the NR testing fees. Not to mention the $705 I spent for the class and all the gas and fast food I've had to pay out in order to go to the class. It's expensive becoming an EMT. :-)

Good luck to you!

Jon

Under $1000 investment to become a fully certified and working "medical professional" not expensive in the least, that's less than the cost of 1 semester of college.

I'm sure costs and requirements vary depending on what state you're from. Here we get hired, then go through EVOC after working for a while (if you're focus that early in your career is driving the ambulance you're probably here for the wrong reasons). Employer covers the costs of the course. Also different employers have different requirements as far as what they consider acceptable EVOC training, I worked at one company, took EVOC there and 2 months later got a part time job at another company and had to take EVOC again as they didn't accept my previous EVOC.

marineman, I should be going to where you go to school. $1000 here won't even cover one credit!

some agencies localy require EVOC before you can get hired. classes run about 150 bucks for a 16 hour class. hough you may try calling the agency you plan to take EVOC with and ask them. they would know best

LOL Linuss, I get to deal with LA City Dept of Transportation, and I'm not even based in LA!!!! I also have to have the ADL, and a million other little pieces of paper.

You're going to have to tell us where you are hun. This is an international site, and things are different country to country, state to state, and in the case of california, county to county!

I'll trade you tuition costs, my current school for your school. Heck, I'll even round the $700 up to $1000 to pay for the food/gas/etc.

yeah, but i'm sure thats a pretty penny they are getting for requiring that.

The test for the ADL really isn't that much. The background check costs a lot more, which is painful because the California DMV and County EMS each require their own background check.

I find that many organizations are willing to pay for the class and if not you can expect to pay between 0-50 dollars for the class.

AMR held our CEVO here at no cost. Only drawback to that was we didn't do ANY driving! Loser instructor :glare:. People always amaze me but, I don't know why.

Last EVOC class I took was 150 dollars 2 years ago. It was about 12 or so hours and had a great time.
