ATCEMS is the only place you'll make enough to support yourself.
Acadian runs 911 in Bastrop, I keep hearing lots of folks going there. St. Davids hires EMTs in the EDs, not sure about Seton. Pay is competitive with ATCEMS if you earn it.
If you are a full time EMT and looking to stick around I suggest going IFT or ED until you can get on with ATCEMS, where you can make a comfortable living and one day get your paramedic cert paid for.

Doesn't matter what level you are. It's civil service so its just a long process. I applied May 2014 and wont be a fully credentialed provider until March or April. Look at their website atcems.org, it goes over the hiring process. Also, call a recuiter. They are the only 911 provider for Travis County.

Austin Travis County is hiring for EMS Field Medic I.
We are excited to announce a new position on front-line ambulances with Austin-Travis County EMS. The new EMS Medic I - Field position, a BLS credentialed position, will work with an ALS credentialed provider (EMS Medic II - Field), to better align our service delivery to the needs of the community. As an EMS Medic I at Austin-Travis County EMS, you can be certified at the EMT-Basic, EMT-Intermediate, EMT-Paramedic, or the Licensed Paramedic level and will have the opportunity to promote within the department to EMS Medic II and beyond. Working alongside an EMS Medic II, you will have the opportunity to perform both basic and a limited number of advanced procedures such as; King LTD airway placement, nebulized medication administration, Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) and 12 Lead ECG acquisitions
