Emt b to Emt I

Can anybody tell me what kinds of new training it will take to become an emt i from emt b? and how long the training is? thanks

In Georgia emt b is 2 quarters, emt i is an additional quarter. I'm actually in my second of 3 and will start I in January. I will take my NREMT-i in March

In the I class we basically only learn combitubes. As an I in Georgia we can do IV's, give minimal meds, combitube and 1 other thing that I cant remember.

does your state use the EMT-I85 or the EMT-I99? I85 takes about 4 months and I99 about 6 months. the I99 has more advanced cardiology.

As mentioned there are two forms, as well may I ask why would anyone pursue this? Look at all the magazines and journals and see what the ads are asking for?... see any ads for Basics or Intermediates?

Yeah but now, compare that to a Paramedic... as well, I am very surprised about Honolulu. Not too long ago, they were begging medics to not even to attempt to apply, that they were flooded... maybe its due to ...."Starting pay for the EMT I trainee position is $2,917 per month" ...Ever compared what the costs of living is. I am sure firetender could assist.

I still contend, why not go for the gold standard and be ensured of employment. Many states are now abolishing or encompassing the Intermediate level into the basic level.

In Ohio, the EMT- I training is 140 hours that includes pharmacology, cardiology and medication administration. Depending on the training facility, it might take weeks or a few months.

I is pretty standard in my area. Bs in our county don't ride the trucks, they are first responders with the fire department. I'm not even positive that the granny tote services hire B's.
