Ok needing a little help here. I been a EMT for 10 years now I love EMS however there is not a lot of jobs here in the bluegrass state for EMT-B. Myself and my family for like to relocate but I'm not having much luck with jobs searching online. I have applied with Richmond Ambulance Authority is VA. Do any one by chance know of any were else EMS wise that is hiring EMT-B. Yes I have my NREMT so that should not be a issue. I would like to stay east of the Mississippi
and maybe north east ( New England ) area. Any and all help would be great. I would prefer 911 and not taxi transports. Thanks ahead of time I know this is a fire page so please don't eat me alive I also been a Volley Firefighter for 11 years. I just prefer the ambulance and rescue. I have my NREMT so reciprocity should not be a issue. Thanks in advance

Boston EMS just opened up their applications, you have 6 months from being hired to establish residency in Boston.

Lol a fire page? But also look at Amr in the northeast. I think their Seacoast division (NH, ME, MA) is hiring again.

opps.. I copy and pasted the same thing I had on firehouse.com... BEMS would they hire some one not from Boston?

ok I just sent a App to BEMS. Only thing that they may not like is that I would relocate from Kentucky. But maybe not. However Boston is one of the best services in the US. I would love to work for them.

Also I noted that they run BLS transport ambulance with ALS case. And there recruit class is long. Do they train the BLS crews to a Advance EMT level but still call it BLS?

some of BEMS's EMT-Basics are actually Paramedics working BLS positions waiting for Paramedic spots to open up, they can only act as basics while on BEMS time though.

Out of curiosity, how does the state allow a Paramedic to work on a BLS truck? In my state, if you are a medic, you are ALS and a service can not operate a truck with a medic on board as a BLS only truck. By that I mean that all standard and state required ALS equipment must be on the truck.

I assume it's the same was as here that the medical director is only allowing them to operate as a basic. They can be restricted by medical direction down in scope with no problem

Hmm, to my understanding we have a law that states if a medic is on the truck, it must be ALS. I do recall a service having a rather fun time with GA OEMS for putting Paramedics on a truck with no ALS equipment and calling it a BLS truck.

Here is Rhode Island medics and cardiacs can only do BLS unless a second EMT is on the truck, if it's just a driver and a medic the medic can only operate as a basic.

That's bizarre. How does the level of training of the person driving the ambulance have any bearing on the care in the back? Oh well, no accounting for crazy laws.

yeah, I agree it's stupid but that's the rule. I'm unsure if it's law or just statewide protocol

In New Jersey, a Medic can work as a basic on a BLS truck but only within a basics scope of practice. The idea seems to be that, EMT P is hire training (and includes all of the below) than an EMT B. At one of my jobs, EMTs are paid on the high end for the state, meaning many of our EMTs have stuck around. We have several EMTs that are certified as Medics but only work part time as a medic and full time with us because they actually make more with seniority and high rate of pay from us.

Ideas of EMT jobs?

Okay. Well, it makes sense if you have no prior basic experience and went straight to medic. Alot of jobs want medics but no basics. I got that treatment when I was doing a job hunt here in Ohio.

By the way I am new to the forums. Hey there.
