Hello,

I am an EMT in Alameda County, CA who just got hired (today! B)) by Royal Ambulance. I start on Tuesday (5 days from now) and am making myself familiar with the local hospitals and specialized care facilities.

If anyone is an East SF Bay EMT/Medic and would like to advise me of some places to know, please add them here, it will be greatly appreciated.

I know of the big ones like the 3 Alta Bates campuses, Kaiser Oakland, Eden Hospital... but anything else will help!

Thanks again,
John

Royal comes down to Stanford University Hospital sometimes too (well, at least I see their rigs) so google map them too! (Not technically in the East Bay though, I know.)

Hey, if I may be going there, I'd love to know. Thanks!

The rig should have folder with all area hospitals, nursing homes etc. Just look over it. Plus you likely will be partner with someone that been on a job for a while so you will be fine. Do not worry about it.

You're right, I am probably just over-preparing. Thanks for the heads-up!

Yes, your ambulance should have a folder in it that has a listing of the facilities, the address, and probably a map reference (TG grid numbers) for those facilities. You will very likely be partnered with an experienced person that knows the commonly visited facilities.

Stanford University Medical Center is not that difficult to visit... University Ave can get a bit busy though. I usually liked driving in on Embarcadero. Once on campus, a right turn, a left turn, and a slight right would get me right to the Emergency Department/Ambulance parking area. Just be careful... there are a number of clinics nearby too. Lucille Packard Children's can be accessed from Stanford Medical Center, but LPCH has a separate entrance that is easier to use, if they still allow it to be used by ambulances.

That's probably cause Royal is also settling themselves in Santa Clara County (SCC).

I think you hit the nail on the popular ones in East Bay (, but I don't find myself in Easy Bay too often). I know South Bay and SCC pretty well (I live in Hayward, but Chabot was filled up so I went to San Jose City College (SJCC) for the EMT program there). In Alameda County (Alco) (South Bay though), there is Saint Rose and Kaiser in Hayward (Tennyson exit from 880). Kaiser in Union City (Whipple exit from 880). Another Kaiser (Stevenson exit from 880) and Washington (Mowry exit from 880) in Fremont. Not sure if you'll find that useful since I am not a working EMT yet (still waiting for temporary state cert in the mail). *shrugs*
