DNR Protocols

I just read an article about changes in King County, Washington resuscitation guidelines.

I posted a reaction to this on my blog and I may add it to my podcast discussions.

What are the protocols regarding DNR's around the country? I thought that all EMS crews were allowed to honor them but the article above states that there are still areas where crews are required to initiate resuscitation regardless of advanced directives.:excl:

All were told is that we go ahead and begin resusitation unless someone hands us that yellow sheet with the actual signatures on it (no photo-copies)
