I graduated medic school at 30.. I started emt school at 28. I have a 7 yr old and a wife i have been married for almost 8 years. I`m not gonna lie to you.. I almost quit medic school a few times because of $$, time and fights with the wife. I was lucky and she did support me 100% through it all but its ruff. school 3 days a week. 2 12 hrs shifts a week and hospital clinical 1 night a week. for 16mos. Then studying for tests and separate day classes for ACLS,CPR,etc.. It was ruff on my son and my wife. She had to work extra hours and my son was in day care after school.
Just make sure you want to be in ems for the right reasons.. I cannt picture doing anything else and I am coming from a job where i was making fists full of cash and i made my own hours. I`ve been out of medic school for almost 6mos and i`m still working on finding a job.. I`m actually moving my whole familiy up north because the jobs down here in FL are scarce.
