anybody live in the dallas fort worth area? i might be moving out there in a year or so for chiropractic college, just wanted some people's opinions on what the living is like there

I love it out here. I used to live in Michigan, and miss Michigan, but mainly just because I was raised there and all my friends are there. I've lived here for 4 years and don't see myself moving anytime soon.

Depending on which side of the Metroplex you live in, you'll have drastically different set of circumstances. The Dallas side is a lot more urban with an urban feel... congestion of traffic and everything else that goes with a big city.

The Ft Worth side does not even feel like a city. I'd have no qualms walking through downtown Ft Worth at 3am alone in the dark... it just does not feel dangerous. Heck, driving through Ft Worth, you'll think "This is downtown?" as it's not big at all.

Arlington, in between the 2 cities, has more of an urban feel but no real "downtown" with skyscrapers.

It's not like most peoples perceptions of Texas either. It's more lush, and pretty hilly. Not flat desert land. It does get hot, into 110+, but you dont even notice it. And yes, it DOES still get cold.

I can drive from the most SW corner of Ft Worth to the most NE corner of Dallas and it takes about an hour.

Reminded me of home, so I liked it. Plus I was on shift so we got a couple of calls, to say the least.

thanks

Just avoid Oak Cliff in Dallas man, rough out there you get capped for your shoes

Buddy of mine is a FF/PM in Rowlett, lots of hot chicks and soccer moms out there ^_^

lol that's where I live. Not Oak Cliff but Rowlett

Oak Cliff and Kessler Park

Oak Cliff does have some less than desirable areas, but it also has some million dollar homes. Being capped for your shoes is more liely to happen in the pleasant grove area, South Dallas areas...

All cities have their good and bad areas...but I would was born and raised in Texas (Fort Worth specifically), and in my opinion, you will not find friendlier people anywhere in the world, although I am currently in Saudi Arabia, and they are a close second!

If I were to advise you where to live, either Dallas or Fort Worth, I would say Fort Worth. It is less expensive, the people are nicer, and as someone else posted, seems less urban. It has bad areas also, Stop 6, Northside, but these areas are well policed and not as bad as the areas in Dallas.

You will be happy with either city though I am sure...
