cough cpr for heart attack

I have heard this before. And seen cardiologists laugh at it. A nurse once sent this to me. It's kinda silly.
 
UH, no, not so much......................Even the snopes article says that is false. The last thing you would want during an ACS episode is an increased workload on the heart. Bad idea......
Ya thats what I was saying, its wrong but people don't know that.
 
And yet, I've actually seen it work. The patient was in the ER on a monitor and started going into VFib. The nurse and doc both told the patient to cough, and he returned to NSR.

Granted, it was about as immediate as you could get and most people won't know they are going into VFib until the fall down.
 
Ya what I found interesting was that it can be used but has to be used the right way, I never thought that coughing during a heart attack could do anything good or bad
