Cop accidentally shot by partner thanks lifesaving medics
Fort Lauderdale· The police officer who nearly died from a gunshot accidentally fired by his partner in September credits the quick and brave work of city paramedics with saving his life.
"I didn't want them to start taking too much time," Officer Bill McGarry said. "I knew it was bad, especially when saw [my] blood flowing on the street."
The scene was chaotic on Sept. 26. The first medics to arrive did not know McGarry's partner, Stevens Gelu, shot him through a door after a man stepped out of his apartment and pointed a gun at Gelu.
