When I first started, I began with AMR for the BP Oil Spill. I was local, and did not know how bad I was catching the shaft. $9.86/hr 12hr shift. They ended up flying in contracted medics and basics to fill the holes. The basics were making like $160-180/day with like $15/hr OT. Medics I know were $350/day with $26hr OT (anything over 40hrs a week, and we mostly worked consecutive 16hr shifts). It was good money for them. Of course, this was mostly thanks to BP opening their pocket. They also got a per diem.
Anyways, all that aside. I'd like to get involved with contract work. I dont need major money. I'd like to sign a 4-8 week contract for somewhere around the country (or world) to diversify my experience as a medic. I do not desire to apply and fill a FT position and have to relocate. Anyone know where (if) I can find this?
