A student who fell with a noose around his neck during a mock class hanging that was arranged by teachers has enraged Australian authorities.

The high school student fell from a table while fellow students, under the supervision of a teacher, were photographing a staged hanging as part of an English class project.

Students and teachers rushed to the boy and cut the rope when he fell, Education Queensland Assistant Director-General Lyn McKenzie said, although local newspapers said the boy turned blue before he was freed.

The student was allowed to go home with his mother after being examined by paramedics, while authorities launched an investigation into how the incident occurred.

What made this student agree to doing this??

"Oh, it won't happen to me, it's safe!"

Sweetie, I have a request. If you're going to post news articles please post a link to them! This is a similar article I could find. http://www.qt.com.au/story/2009/06/04/screams-as-kids-witness-hanging-horror-school-hang/

Is this technically humorous? I think this is in the wrong thread, nor is it funny, it could have been tragic...Sorry.

Oooops, sorry. My Page originally showed this in the Humor section... I have been having issues with my computer.

It's "EMT-Funny".

Been on a few at work.

Ranks right next to the ATF officer who was showing his sidearm to a classroom and discharged it.

Or my former USAF trainer who demonstrated how to give yourself an Atropen shot; someone had traded his trainer for a live one, he swacked himself in the lateral thigh, felt the burn, told the class to call an ambulance.

the police chief who was teaching a concealed weapons/gun safety class and shot himself in the foot with his own firearm

Australian history shows that the prefered method of capitol punishment was hanging. As this was an English class i can only assme they were lookin into one of te many Australian literary classics that looks at the issues associated with hanging. Why did the student do it? Think back to when you were at school, didnt you do things you look back on now & think "What the hell was I thinking?"

Is there an issue with recreations? We do not have all the facts here & while I probably wouldnt do it, or allow my children to do it, it is no more stupid than some of the other things described here.

The fact is, if this accident had not occurred, we would be none the wiser. How many thins are done in schools that we should be concerned about that we are unaware of?
