Three Chicago area hospitals are now tracking down and testing nearly 700 patients and staff members who had contact with a physician who has been diagnosed with infectious tuberculosis, city health officials said Friday.

Oh man... what a mess. Since I've been working in a University clinic and work with countless med students and residents, it's become very apparent to me how much bouncing around these people do. Many of them will be at 2-3+ clinical sites a day, and rotate to different sites frequently. I can't imagine how many hundreds of people they have relatively close contact with on a monthly basis, and how many of those people are either patients or care providers that see hundreds of patients themselves.

I feel bad for this poor resident. She must be going through "heck".
