How does the California job outlook for EMT's look like? Lots of openings? I'm from Hawaii and working on get my into my EMT training program. But thinking about maybe moving to California in the near future.

Not a lot of openings but tons of EMTs and medics applying for each opening. Protocols are very limited compared other EMS systems. Pay seems to be around what everyone else is getting (in my system at least).

southern california is not the best place for private EMS. Its all ran by F.D. youll run mostly ifts and pay is not great ( 9-12 hour emt 12-18 medic)

As an EMT, if you want a job you'll find it. 9-1-1 companies are somewhat competitive and the hiring process may take you a couple months. But it's not impossible.

Aloha bra,

It's not impossible to get a 9-1-1 EMT job in Southern California but you have to know your stuff. The process for myself has taken about a month to turn in application, take their tests, and now I am in the interview processes with companies. All three 9-1-1 companies I have applied to I've gotten interviews with, but I do have some background in first responding being a former Lifeguard.
