Hey all

Whats everyone's thoughts on these? I'm with a volunteer company who uses it as it seems to be the go to method vs the manual Bp at least in the rig even though it is portable and might be taken in the field. This one takes full BP along with pulse. I'm actually prefer taking my own Bp (treat the pt not machine etc) with loading Pt's int the rural town I work in the hospital is less than 2 mins away so this tool might be helpful while I finish up the rest of my Pt assessment your thoughts?

i personally prefare taking a manual bp.. our ecg has a auto bp cuff attatched but i rarely use it anymore

I perfer to get at least the first BP manually, even if the other Officer vigirously dismisses me :P

Policy from medical direction here is first BP manual, subsequent can be NIBP. How regularly is that followed... ahem.

Taking BP manually will help keep the skill up to date and with the automatic once it's just one more stupid thing to break on me and get bodily fluids all over.

I've always done manual first then either NIBP or manual palp pressures

this.

What I used to do was take a manual BP, compare it to the NIBP, and if they're close, I'd allow continued use of the NIBP. If not, it was 100% manual for that patient! With discharge or transfer patients, I'd check the history of the vitals, compare them to my values... and I'd do an NIBP on my machine and see if they all are pretty close.

I really wasn't looking for specific numbers/values per se... I was looking for the trend.
