Knowledge, Education and Skills Required:
� Minimum 5 years supervisory experience managing Emergency and Non-Emergency Ambulance Services
� Budget, Performance Improvement and excellent organizational skills
� Competent in the use and application of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Knowledge, Education and Skills Preferred:
� Bachelors Degree
� Experience dealing with personnel issues
� Competency in the use and application of the Incident Command System
� Experience developing HSEEP compliant Drills and Exercises

Required Certification/Licensing:
� Current New Jersey or National Registry EMT-B or EMT-P or MICN.
� Current certification in Incident Command (I-300 Level) (Instructor Preferred).
� Current CPR certification (AHA).
� Must possess a valid NJ driver�s license.


Job Summary:

The BLS Coordinator is responsible for the 24 Hour Operation of the Ambulance Department as well as management of the cost center budget in coordination with the Emergency Preparedness Manager. In coordination with the MICU Education Coordinator the BLS Coordinator develops and promulgates an annual EMS Education Plan based on the needs of the area EMS Personnel. The BLS Coordinator serves as liaison to the area EMS Organizations, Municipalities as well as other HUMC Departments and actively pursues opportunities to promote the HUMC Ambulance Service.


Essential Generic Job Functions (List in order of importance):

� Liaison to all EMS Agencies, Ambulance Service staffing Agency, Dispatch Agencies that communicate with HUMC Ambulances and to other HUMC Departments (Finance, Bio-Med, MICCOM, etc.)
� Assures Ambulance Service in accordance with Agency and Municipality contracts/agreements.
� Responsible for the department schedule to ensure that proper staffing levels are maintained for HUMC Staffed BLS Units.
� Cover on call responsibilities for the department
� Works with Case Managers and Social Workers to ensure and enhance the delivery of ambulance services, medical necessity, appropriate collection of information and CMS compliance.
� Responsible to assure billing staff confirm medical necessity, collect appropriate data / information, and to improve and sustain adequate and timely billing of services
� Responsible to keep up with Insurance billing criteria that relates to EMS-Ambulance Service and to assure procedures and processes remain current and in compliance with regulatory and procedural changes.
� Responsible to assure medical necessity and CMS compliance criteria are met and complete information is collected before the dispatch center assigns the transport.
� Responsible to assure EMS staff understand transport compliance requirements.
� Responsible for monitoring outside ambulances services performance when utilized
� Administrates the Electronic Patient Care Reporting System and creates and submits monthly reports on volume including trends with the service as required by the Emergency Preparedness Manager.
