Yep, you guessed it,

another fire started today in the SB county mountains. happy cinco de mayo i guess :/

Where?

...................??????????????

In the Los Padres forest. Ugh. It has not even been a year since the Monticeto fire.

To make matter worse:

I hear that if the (badly written) props on the table don't pass the State won't have enough money to properly staff State Fire Resources and as many as 1,700 FF's statewide might not be hired this season.

Oh, you mean the ones that I voted, for the most part, agaisnt because it's just more of same crud that got the state in trouble in the first place? I got my absentee ballot about a week ago and was like, "Whoa, what? There's an election?"

DOWN BOY! :P California Politics BAD. HEAL!

GOOD BOY! Yes, the ballot measures all such, maybe with the exception of F, but I was just commenting that CA's screwed up budget problems are gonna mean cuts in Public Safety. That commercial where the "FF" talks about cutting Medic and FF jobs is actually based in fact. 3 years of little snow/rain, fire season being started early/ended late, and less FF's... at least Happy Cows Still Come From California... and now we can BBQ them all when California goes up in flames! :P

hmmm when nature comes to bite back and destroys the "beautiful image" of California and LA

I hope there isnt much damage and/or deaths

Nothing is more beautiful than ash falling in the morning.

/seen it
//about three times now.
///Freaky even when you're tens of miles away with the entire county between you and the fire.

Ah, you musta still been here during the 10/2004 fires

BTW, those props? If they don't pass, hubby and I will likely be living on any measly EMT salary (hubby's a RIFd teacher)

I knwo you are sad about it..but for me..its is two words Strike Team WOOPP!!! lol..Be safe and I hope people are smarter down there then up here, and actually get their valuables and leave their homes.

Yea, the 2004 fires were probably the one I remember during my undergrad. I also remember it happening once during middle school and once during high school. Forest fires + Santa Anas = Southern California snow.

well the gap fire burned goleta, and the tea fire burned montecito, so i guess this is mother nature's cruel way of being fair and burning in between

Why do I have this image in my head that firefighters are just going to end up digging a huge firebreak along the border of California? :P

:headdesk: :P You're probably right. "Let it burn, let it burn"

Just need a fire break between Northern and Southern California. Heck, make it a wall. A tall wall to keep the looney northerns out of the south.

Ha, Ha. Better yet, we build that wall and give So. Cal back to Mexico. Trust me, no one from Nor Cal wants to take part in the southern mess! :P

Hey, I don't wanna be Mexican either!!!!

Well, being a part of Mexico can't be too much worse than being in the same state as Berkeley.

Oh, TRUE :P

Berkley, Hollywood, Santa Anna Winds, Bakersfield... Mexico can have them all. We will keep the Sierras, Yosemite, Montery Bay, and the Sacramento Kings! ^_^

"The preliminary plan looks to cut more than $80 million of Cal Fire’s spending by eliminating 602 full-time positions and 1,100 seasonal positions, as well as closing 11 conservation camps and 20 single-engine fire stations across the state."
