Well then it’s a good thing it’s not a police office taking our applications inside the DMV or else there would be a lot more confusion.

DesertMedic is correct, CA DMV makes it very clear that the abbreviation means “Commercial Drivers License”. There is no confusion regarding that here in this situation, although I’m sure other people make that dissertation, especially if they’re out of state.

UPDATE:

I was able to get another doctor from a clinic that deals with ambulance drivers on a regular basis to evaluate me and sign off the federal portion. Turns out the DMV was correct, and the original clinic I had my physical done at was misinformed on the laws and stipulations regarding my age.
