So I got hired on my first EMT job in OC (Liberty Ambulance) and I'm really happy with the company(and the $11/hr) but they don't run 911 which is really what I'm looking to do long term. Any one know of a 911 company in the OC that will sponsor an employee to go through a Medic program? The ambulance company I worked along side with as a firefighter in Central Cali did this and I really like the idea of working while I go through the medic program, even though everyone says not to do it.

Extremely doubtful since no ambulance company in Orange County CA employs Paramedics. All OC medics are Firefighter Paramedics. ALS level IFTs are all handled by CCT-RNs. Companies with operations in multiple counties may have medics in their non-OC divisions, but that's about it.

Edit**
Sorry, forgot about Lynch, they do have medics in OC but its a pilot program for IFT only

In fact, the only OC company currently running paramedics of any kind is Lynch through a pilot study. The private company 911 paramedic policy is currently going through a public comment period.

Quoted from the thread "Any good ambulance companies in Orange County?" Not sure how to insert the clickable link since I'm using the Tapatalk app on my phone lol

thanks for the info. you think there's any chance I can get on a Fire Dept. as just an EMT?

Good question. I know there's a couple here in LA that do that (Glendale Fire is accepting apps for part time ambulance operator until the 16th) but I'm honestly not sure about Orange County.

I heard Garden Grove just hired 5 guys, 4 of them are medics. The guy that is just an EMT is a volunteer/explorer for like 5 years.
I heard OCFA might bump you up on the list if you speak Spanish.
Getting a fire job now is next to impossible unless you're connected.

The bigger the department, the better the chances, LA City, LACo, all hire plenty of EMT's, it's difficult these days with most smaller FD's being virtually all ALS. My department no longer hires EMT's, and I would say even when they did, 95% of new hire FF's were paramedics.

You on a FD now. Nice
