Woo passed my 1st test today with a 98%. Lost on a question about a HazMat thingy. A tanker falls over. There are many people injured still near the tanker. What do you do?.

A.Call Hazmat
B.Put on your protective gear.
C.Check the type sign on the tanker for what it was carrying with your binoculars.
D.Wait till ALS shows up.

i said B for some odd reason... the correct one was C.

Still did well tho :D

The answer should be B. First thing on sheet is BSI/Scene safety. It's a stupid question.

Actually no need to put one BSI as you are not getting close enough to worry about germs.

C is correct then notify hazmat with your placard reading.

Since scene safety comes before BSI, knowing what you're dealing with would be considered part of scene safety. Right now the scene is insecure. Haz-mat could secure the scene, but you have to know what the tanker was carrying before you call them.

+1. If you don't know what the spill is, you're not getting close

The answer is:
E. Put vehicle in reverse and back up, until you can no longer see tanker!

Good Job! You won't miss that one again!

I would prefer "Put vehicle in reverse and get the H-E-double hockey sticks out of the way." I'm warped. :P

Originally I was gonna go for C, but I like reaper's answer best!

The reason the answer is not B is for reasons medic417 pointed out. You're not gonna get close enough to it 'til Hazmat deems the area safe. We don't carry full hazmat suits so you can't safely approach the vehicle.

Who cares if there are people injured? 10 dead truckers is better than 10 dead truckers and 2 dead EMS personnel.

Or...

Might not be "text book" but...

As for the answer, I would immediately request HazMat. Try to make out the placard second. Especially if we are trying to keep a safe distance from the scene, it might be hard to take the time to sight the placcard.

where is the run away option?
