I'm 16 and an Explorer at the Pierce Twp. FD- they allow us to do ride alongs. The Boy Scouts Learning for Life program provides liability insurance.

Its a requirment here in Ohio- I have to test myself often so I'm relatively adept at it

Lucky!!! I'm 16 and would LOVE to go ahead and get my cert- but Ohio won't let me <_< And yes, before anyone asks, I am immensely more responsible than your average teenager :)

Thats awesome!! I'm hoping to do something like that this summer, but I don't think the local FD likes newbies very much- thought I'd give it a shot though as I'm 16 now (17 in Sept.). I think they offer CPR/ First Aid classes every month. I was hoping maybe I might be able to volunteer or...

Something similar to that happened here in Cincinnati not too long ago...I just don't get it- I would NEVER even stop my CAR on the tracks :wacko:

Very Helpful great posts! I am planning on starting my training after I graduate high school- the more I read and study about EMS the more I think its the career for me. B)
