    NREMT-P Random Basic Skills

I'm kind of digging here, but was it the straps? You said pelvis/chest/legs. Were there 2 straps on the legs (I'm assuming yes) If you completely spaced it (doubtful) and used 3, then perhaps there's your answer. Maybe they were picky about placement? I remember our instructor used to always...

How big was your EMT-B class?

We started with 4 more than we finished with, if my memory serves me correct. We ended with 10. 3 women. 7 men

Post the # your test stopped at, and if you Passed/Failed

Took it at 2:45 pm yesterday. Test stopped at 70 questions after 45 minutes. I had a love/hate relationship with it. I hate the way it's formatted to basically MAKE you feel like you have no idea what you're doing. I had the highest grade in my class last summer and passed my state...

so maybe it's not the new tv show Trauma...

I feel like JAG and NCIS can't really be compared. Yeah, NCIS is technially a spinoff of JAG, but their styles are world's different. JAG mostly took itself seriously, while NCIS is often tongue-in-cheek

how long did it take you to get hired?

Massachusetts is one of the few states that has their own testing/certification system. You can work in MA as an EMT by being state certified, without being nationally certified. If you're nationally certified and want to work in MA, you have to pay a :censored:load more money to take...

Taking the exam tomorrow:unsure: Wish me luck:blush: No, actually.. don't wish me luck. Since it has nothing to do with luck and everything to do with knowledge/skill

how long did it take you to get hired?

Technically: about 6 months. However, I got my MA certification in December and didn't actively seek out employment until the very end of April/beginning of May so it's really about 1 month.

so maybe it's not the new tv show Trauma...

Well hello there, long lost sibling.^_^ Most of my friends love Glee. I've even got my boyfriend watching it with me. I have a degree in vocal performance, so... it's not a guilty pleasure to me, but most of the non musical population thinks I'm crazy. hahaha I just have to say that I'm so...

so maybe it's not the new tv show Trauma...

Favorite tv show: Firefly, and the movie Serenity, of course. :) I'm also quite the classic movie kinda girl. I guess having a boyfriend who's a film major in college helps that one. Other tv shows that I enjoy: Battlestar Galactica (RIP), Caprica, The Sarah Connor Chronicles ( RIP)...

Post the # your test stopped at, and if you Passed/Failed

I'm sorry to hear that you failed. On the bright side, you'll make sure you are far more prepared for your second shot. I've been an MA certified EMT since December, but taking my first stab at the NREMT exam next Tuesday. As another thing to hopefully cheer you up, I'm new here, but so...

Just got a job at PrideSTAR EMS in Lowell MA anyone else work there?

The company is pretty new. 2006, if I remember correctly. It's a transfer company, although they competed with Trinity and Patriot for an emergency contract for Dracut/Tyngsboro, so they're clearly trying to move towards some emergency work. Dracut stuck with Patriot. Tyngsboro chose Trinity...

    Bad EMS treatment on TV

I have no specific example, because I see it just about everywhere, but let me just say chest compressions! I can count maybe once or twice where they looked somewhat realistic. Usually the rate is more than twice as slow as it should be, the hands are in the completely wrong place, or they...

Hello there, everyone. My name is Zoë. I've lurked here for a while, but decided to finally make an account when I landed my first EMS job. :D I'm 23, graduated last spring from Tulane University with a degree in music, and plan on getting a master's in music education. I've always been...
