    Questions about CPR

It’s a much more controlled environment with doctors that can do more. Plus most out of hospital cardiac arrests that we encounter have had a long downtime. If you just count the ones that code in the back of the truck (which is less frequent), the rate would probably be higher.

What was your first 911 call?

Mine was a simple altered mental status. That was as a student on my first clinical. I think she had a UTI best I remember.

    Questions about CPR

No one said anything about doing CPR on a live person.

    Questions about CPR

I would never put my mouth on a patients. We have BVMs that are used to breathe for someone when they are unable. Be it dead or just not able to breathe adequately on their own. Unfortunately, most don’t survive. The out of hospital cardiac arrest survival rate is really low. Out of the 7 I have...

Tell us the Times you've "F***** up" on a call

Me asking about a mistake is not an agency specific thing. Also, I’m pretty sure the the medications that the other people made errors with should have been covered in medic (or whatever level) school.

    What did I do?

Tell us the Times you've "F***** up" on a call

hey @CCCSD, why don’t you come and berate these people?? We all make mistakes, and you come and tell me off for a mistake, then just keep quiet when people in here talk about major medication errors. I don’t know what you have against me.

I made a mistake, any advice?

    Uh, yeah?

I made a mistake, any advice?

Well this didn’t kill her, and I doubt she will have any permanent effects from it

I made a mistake, any advice?

I never once said that. I knew you would come in here with your attitude. No, I’m not over my head, and I know I should have checked it. It was an oversight, not an issue of not knowing. I guess you’ve never made a mistake 😒

I made a mistake, any advice?

I had a call today, and she wound up being severely septic. She was a diabetic, but wasn’t on insulin, so that made me less suspicious of BGL being low. She had been vomiting for a few days, and was just getting worse. She was responsive, but somnolent and only responsive to voice. Her BP was...

    Medication contraindications

Generally speaking, what contraindications do you go by for meds at a BLS level? Our protocols for the most part don’t address contraindications, and just show indications. Does that mean with aspirin for example, that you give it no matter what, or do you go by something such as...

    Encouraging and discouraging transport

First of all, I am not an “it”. All the arguments are started by you generally.

    Encouraging and discouraging transport

I will happily tell you that you are wrong. I do have the capacity, and anyone I work with would agree. Nope. I’m not quitting because I am capable of doing the job.

    “An assessment”

It is NOT the same question. I have been to EMT school, and certified for a year.

    Encouraging and discouraging transport

    Even with the stupid calls?

    Encouraging and discouraging transport

Well the one from then was just people saying “follow your protocols”, me arguing that we don’t have protocols on refusals, then me proving we don’t have protocols on refusals.

    “An assessment”

Let me ask you this one, since you seem to be the only one on here who wants to help. I want to inquire a little more on advising people to not go to the hospital. I mean I know you can obviously advise them not too in a situation such as a “stubbed toe”, but what about something like chest...

    Encouraging and discouraging transport

When they 100% want to go, yes of course. That’s all. But what about when they ask if you think they should go?

    “An assessment”

Here we go… no it is not the same question. The first one after I joined was “what do people write on their gloves”. I have never asked this question before. I just said above what I didn’t understand. And no, this is not a troll account.
