EMT-B course along with other college courses. Thoughts?

Yes, A&P 1 and 2. I feel the nursing school experience and working as an ER tech will help tremendously. Just looking at the syllabus and seeing 15 chapters per test was a bit intimidating lol.

EMT-B course along with other college courses. Thoughts?

I am taking an EMT-B course at my college, which starts on the 11th. I will also be taking an advanced english composition class and an elective to fulfill my nursing school requirements for graduation. I'm just curious to know who took their EMT-B course by itself, or if it was taken with...

ACLS as nursing student and soon to be EMT student

Hello everyone, I am contemplating on whether to take an ACLS course this Summer, or to wait until the summer that I graduate. I am 2 finals away from being finished with my junior year of my BSN program. I just took a dysrhythmias course this semester and it was a GREAT course going over every...

    ER tech considered EMT?

Yeah, being an ER tech is pretty great, especially in lvl one trauma. Being a CNA on a med/surg floor is just torture with the same things everyday. I like the broader scope of practice in the ER. The pay is definitely better than what an EMT gets too, which is good; but unfortunate for EMT's...

    ER tech considered EMT?

I have been an ER tech for about a year at a level one trauma center. None of our techs are EMT's, we are all just in nursing school. One of the requirements of being hired was to have at least one clinical rotation. We did not have to get a phlebotomy cert., we were just trained on the job...

    Volunteering as an EMT

That wouldn't be half bad at all then. Especially going into my senior year of nursing school full time with my job as an ER tech and working full time in role transition. So that would be easily doable. How long is orientation usually, and how long before you have to drive the rig? Sorry...

    Nervous about operating an ambulance

So, once I finish my course and everything and begin to volunteer, I know I will need to be driving the ambulance. The driving part doesn't necessarily bother me, just the fact that I am not good with directions. I live out in the country and do not know the local life squad areas too well. I...

    This one stumped me

Did her eyes look like they were going back into her head (oculogyric crisis)? The dystonia might have been in the early stages before it could lead to that though. That is one type of dystonia that I haven't seen yet in my mental health clinical rotation in nursing school. Interesting scenario!

    ER tech considered EMT?

Thank you. As for your recommendation of keeping the NREMT updated and not letting it lapse, I think I am going to give it a shot.

    ER tech considered EMT?

Hello all, I am curious to know if working as an ER tech is considered "actively working and using the skills of an EMT" for recertification purposes. Or do you actually have to work on an ambulance? Because I know paramedics who I work with that work in the hospital setting and can recertify...

    Volunteering as an EMT

Okay, thanks! I was just curious and wanted to see what I was getting myself into. I will for sure go to the local station and ask.

    Volunteering as an EMT

Hello all, I was just wondering how the "scheduling" and required amount of hours in a certain time frame works when volunteering as an EMT. I'm sure it varies by station, but what would be a good average, that you would say? I work as an ER tech now (taking my EMT course this summer), but I...

    Confusion about recertification

I appreciate this response. I think really when I think about my post, I am just having difficulty figuring out where CE hours and skills verification can be completed, to put it simply. If I volunteer for a station, do they possibly offer CE and skills verification?

I graduate next year with my BSN. Tech job is just temporary until I graduate.

    Confusion about recertification

It is almost always required to have your EMT-B or EMT-P along with your RN to become a flight nurse. which is my ultimate goal.

    Confusion about recertification

Don't call someone who has been through 4 years of nursing school lazy and say I won't pass this basic course. And yes, I am trying to limit the amount of CE hours that i have to do because I will have to do plenty when I become an RN also, and I don't want to spend ALL of my free time doing CE.

    Confusion about recertification

I am a senior nursing student with multiple clinical rotations and work as an ER tech at a level 1 trauma center.

    12Y M Dizzy/Nausea/Headache

That's may be true for some, but not every patient presents the same way. Also, the patient is at an age range where most people usually outgrow ear infections, even years before that. But again, weigh all options just to be safe.
