    Your first cardiac arrest

First CPR was during clinicals in EMT class. Dont really remember just hearing the code page go out at the hospital and hopping up and doing some compressions. 1st as a FF/EMT was a single vehicle rollover 2 adults and 1 small child ejected. Mom was a trauma code, got a ROSC, then it went away...

    A proper 12 lead would've done wonders.

Did they get a standard 4 or whatever monitor set-up they have basic ecg? Should have been able to see elevation in III and AvF

    A proper 12 lead would've done wonders.

And man I really hope the medic with that poor 12 lead was having true trouble getting a good one, because man wewould also be in trouble for that.

    A proper 12 lead would've done wonders.

I guess I cannot say every single person that would be foolish, most though. Not everyone is a paramedic or forced to be a paramedic. We are about 50/50. Everyone does have to be an EMT-B. For a while it was seen as easier to get hired in the metro phoenix area as a medic simply because if there...

    A proper 12 lead would've done wonders.

Or maybe I am very blessed to work in an area where every single person realizes that ems is 80%+ of our workload and if not for EMS we would be volunteer's. Out here its the privates that are very scary, and of course there are scary fire medics as well, but the way some of you guys talk WE...

    New FD Reality Series

I will be watching. Looks very good. I have been amazed that there are no reality shows following LA, PHX or other busy urban fd's around. Like mentioned above I hope it stays on the air and goes multiple seasons or at least inspires other shows like it. But on BET I am not sure how well it will do.

    Administering IV medications SLOWLY

Like stated above I would normally draw up extra saline. I do npot like the carpujects at all. I would rather have all drugs in vials, much easier and more versitile in my opinion.

    Nonrebreather with an Oral Airway?

Agree 100% about the narcan. Yet if we dont on unconscious patients we risk getting talked to for not following protocol. Husband said she didn't drink that much and does take pain meds and psych meds.

    Living the dream!!!

You should def change prior to bringing home clothing exposed to other's bodily fluids. Pretty gross man. Thats why we are supposed to come to work in civies and leave in civies. All stations should have washer and dryer available or at least a trash bag to bring clothes home in.

    Promotional Problem?

No way to continue a 50/50 schedule as an engineer. You are the driver all time. I took the test because of pressure to do so from capt and bc, I feel I am pretty good at the job, and I can do the math with anyone, but doing it everyday isn't what I am looking for right now in my career, I...

    Promotional Problem?

Thank you guys. Paramedic and engineer are basically the same on the rung. I love both ems and firefighting so for now I think I will stay a firefighter/paramedic and some timedown the road when the opportunity arises for captain's positions I will focus on that. The most disturbing thing for me...

    Promotional Problem?

Right now I am torn about what to do with a promotional opportunity. I am currently a 2 year Fire medic with a small fire district. We have 2 eng co's, 1 lad co and a squad co. along with 7 ALS rescue ambulances. My current rotation is around 50% engine time and 50% rescue time. We are...
