i want to start volunteering(emt-b) to get some experience.
i have no idea on how to go about finding a place to volunteer with, or even who i can legally do it with.
my town is covered by acadian, and they are private, so no volunteering.
what are likely places to try? hospital, fire...
my advise is for after the school.
make sure that there will be work for you after you graduate.
and have some customer service experience on your resume.
the school part is pretty easy.
itll help if you know basic anatomy(think high school level).
honestly i went into it...
my search for employment as an emt/er tech has failed.
i found a job manufacturing measuring devices starting at $12/ph(around what emt-b's make here) with lots of overtime and a $2/ph bump after 6 months.
while i would like to work as an emt i dont see it happening.
is it possible to...
had my interview, the guy really liked me, but the lack of experience cost me the job.
he said even a job working retail, or wait staff would prolly have got me the job.
as there is no other ems job openings(for green emt-b) im looking outside the field.
im disappointed of course...
my ridealong was with fire based ems.
they had 1000/1 ems calls over fire. they were all required to be paramedics, except the engineers/operators.
they had a contract with an ambulance company for transports.
when i went to emt school there were tons of places wanting emt's.
now that im looking for an emt job, there's no work for inexperienced emt's.
and ive never gotten any benefit from being a vet.
avoid louisiana. "sportsman's paradise" my arse!
the only outdoors stuff you can do is if you own/lease lots of land(cheaper than cali, and lots of horses in the northern half) or own a boat.
plus its flat, no hiking, etc...
