Thanks guys!
I had no idea you didn't need to have NREMT recertification, I just automatically went there for renewal.
Around how much do the refresher courses cost if I am not affiliated with the organization? Should I just cold call the list of training programs on the LA website?
I have a California license issued by LA county. It doesn't say LA county on it, just California. It's not like Orange County where you need separate accreditation.
Hello guys,
I'm a current college student in CA. My EMT license expires in a couple months. The thing is, I haven't worked as an EMT or used my license at all. The reason is that I have had a really intensive courseload the past few years and a career change, so I have been prepping for medical...
So I just got hired in CA..and on the way to the first day of orientation...I got into a minor parking lot collision. I was trying to swing into an open spot and I underestimated how close the other car was. I basically made a small dent in the side.
If I go through my insurance to pay for...
Just got hired at PRN, and happened to stumble across this thread. Yeah, I like the OT after 8 hours. Any other tips about the company before I start work ? :)
Yah..it says on my job offer "orientation is the considered your first day of employment"...I just didn't think they would pay me to listen to policies and procedures...but that would be great :P
Hey there,
I just got hired by a fairly large transport company in L.A. I have orientation next week. I was wondering, are you normally paid for orientation/training hours?
Just wondering :)
Thanks so much, that was really helpful! :) I have an interview tomorrow, with the written and skills test..Any tips? Is the test hard/unusual? Any suggestions would be appreciated :)
Thanks!
Thanks! Yeah, there were no health issues...so I'll put the two years..
It's in Los Angeles..so pretty far from any state lines...
Also, I read somewhere that you can't do intrastate until you're 21..I'm 19..have you heard of that?
Hi!
This week I was contacted for an interview for both PRN and Mercy ambulance in Los Angeles.
I'm a full time student, so I can only do 15-20 hours a week at most. PRN said they had no minimum part time requirement, so that was encouraging.
How much does each company pay? Any other...
Hello!
I am applying for an ambulance driver certificate in California..I had two questions..
On the actual certificate, the little green card, above where the doctor signed, it has two fields, 'med. Eff. Date' and 'med.exp.date'. I'm guessing it's the expiration date of the certificate, but...
Hi! I just passed my EMT class and am taking the NREMT this Saturday.
I had a question, just how physically strong do you have to be to succeed/get hired as an EMT?
I'm a girl, 19 years old, pretty skinny, in moderately good physical shape, but I've never done strength training or intense...
yah, I was hoping to get a full time job in the summer and then switch to part time during the school year. I would love to work for Care, they seem really professional and put-together. Don't know if I could get a job with them fresh out of emt class, but it's worth a try ^_^
as long as I...
Thanks a lot guys! Glad to know that there is some hope :D
Yeah, I thought L.A. county wold be more exciting to work in too..but are there any benefits of working in Orange county? I live right on the border between the two and don't know which one to get certified in. I am currently attending...
Hi! So I will be graduating from my EMT program at age 19..and I have heard about ambulances not hiring EMT drivers under 21 because of insurance issues.
I don't mind having a non-driving job, but from what I understand, most EMTs are called upon to drive if they work in an ambulance. Correct...
