PT-1 does not do 911, strictly IFT. They're also a joke, yea they are a huge company but they are a terrible company. I worked there for my first EMS job and thought I was so lucky to get it since they were the first company I interviewed for. Within a week I started feeling like they were the...
IMO I would just buy a decent steth, like a Littmann classic II, it'll serve you well from emt school thru medic school and probably then some. Same thing with boots, I'd buy a decent comfortable pair now, don't waste your money on buying cheap versions of these now only to buy better ones down...
I've used Magnum boots before, they make good stuff. I used both the stealth force and viper pros, both in 8" side zips. If i had to recommend one over the other, I'd say the Stealth Force, they were a bit more comfortable to me.
I have the 5.11 ATAC shield boots, same soles as the ATAC WP boots I believe. Been using them for about a year, still going strong, still comfortable and still waterproof. I just took them on a trip to Lake Tahoe for hiking around in the snow and they did great. Maybe 5.11 is hit or miss, some...
Some companies will have skills test, written tests, physical tests, etc.. as for the interview, from my experiences, it's just as a normal interview. They ask the normal things "tell us about yourself", "what are your strength and weaknesses?", "why should we hire you?". Be ready to answer...
Medic Ambulance is the exclusive emergency and ALS transport provider in Solano County. However Falcon Ambulance also provides non emergency BLS services there as well. I also see Pro-Transport out there but I think only because they have a contract with Sutter Solano.
we hire as needed. employees come and go as with any other company. when the employee count gets low, they have another round of hiring. we are hiring right now, the last time we hired more people was probably more or less 2 months ago.
5.11 pants (company issued) and they're great. I have Magnum Viper 2 side zip boots currently, had them for 8 months and still holding up strong. Comfortable too!
I use a G-shock GW6900, it's solar powered, atomic (sets itself to the most accurate time everyday at midnight) and lights up just by tilting your wrist. Most durable watch I've ever had and like $80 on amazon.com
Their Facebook page makes them sound like they're booming claiming they are now "preferred providers for most hospitals" but I work in Contra Costa and I've only seen their rigs twice since they started last month. As far as I know, they only do IFT's.
If this is your first EMT job and have no previous experience I don't think they'll ask you anything too complicated if they do give you a scenario question, in fact the 2 companies I worked for, neither gave me a scenario question nor did they have a skills test. I would say prepare for it like...
