    Army flight medic

You also have to be MOS qualified for a year. That MIGHT be waiverable, but I'm really not sure. 68W training is fun as hell. Drinkin on the Riverwalk aint too bad either :D

    NG Medic

I'm in the same boat you're in. To my understanding, the clocks will pretty much reset after your AIT, along with your inservice. And I'm also under the impression that you will be recognized as a NREMT-B. On a side note, where do you do your drill? Been assigned to a unit yet?

Announcing your intentions to become an EMT

I'm in agreement with resq330... Having no experience in EMS and jumping right in is a bold move, at best. Most volly services will allow you to ride along. I would HIGHLY recommend you do that to get a feel for it. Actual EMS is nothing like what you see on TV. You will not be...

I'll keep my mini. though I do want a pump. For the record, I'm head ref, work the proshop, and run the scenario games at white river paintball here in Indiana. If you're ever my way, swing by.

EMS Rules ( The ones you don't learn in school)

who squatted in your wheaties? fyi, I work at a hospital, in the ER, with RNs. I have nothing but love for them (thus the "^_^") however some, just like medics, emts, docs, ect, have a severe "us vs them" mentality and need to incorporate a small sense of humor in their attitudes. That...

    Why we never run...

I was green...very green...got called out to a 10-0. Had no idea what that was. Finally asked the other EMT "well, what do you need, I'll get it ready." to which she replied "ya know, I dont know...". Great. So we get there and I ask what a 10-0 was. "DOA" came the reply. The other EMT...

EMS Rules ( The ones you don't learn in school)

Cadets riding with you spell trouble. They tend to say the "Q" word, then 15 minutes after they leave tones drop for something nasty... RN stands for "Really Nothing" ^_^ CPR is only done properly when you feel ribs break. The blue light is not a "get out of stopping at stop signs free"...

    Messed up calls.

I'm not sure who told you that, but we do not have a duty to act here. So no more using "I was on a run" for a late to work excuse... <_< So long as you don't walk up and announce you're an EMT, theres nothing legally anyone can do if you just walk away. Always remember when you're off duty...

Fire Crews Refuse Help to EMS On-Scene

Agreed and seconded. I think most services are like that, this seems to be an exception. Why the fire chief had a bug up his *** would be beyond me. Attitudes in the field get people killed.
