Falck - or the 900-pound gorilla no one is aware of

I know that CARE has just placed units out in Riverside starting in December. I know that they plan on bidding on both AMR contracts and are planning on implementing an ALS system. I do not know if CARE will be the one placing the bid or if Falck will place the bid as the company to run the...

Good schools require 2.0 GPA / bad ones don't ?

And most programs are out to make money. I took mine through a community college and paid 24$ a unit. The class cost me around $200 and it was everything I needed to become certified. Are there any cheaper programs in the are?

Not just another Doctor's Ambulance thread..

Just to throw some other ideas out at you. If you are interested in the EMS side have you looked into AMR in either Riverside County or SD county? Riverside isn't a terrible commute if you live on the eastern side of OC and SD county isn't a terrible commute if you live in south county. Neither...

Cool thanks a lot for the info! I have been trying to find someone with some first hand experience applying there and had no luck in the past. Good luck with the program!

    I got accepted!

Sweet thanks. I took my EMT through FCC but then moved down to LA area for school. Did you have to take A&P or any other prereqs? By any chance did you work a company in the area such as American, Riggs or Pistoresi?

Yeah I fully agree and it sucks coming from a county with very progressive protocols up north. But I am a semester away from getting my BS and am dealing with it to gather whatever experience I can haha.

I do realize that and the way getting a job is now its all about who you know. So working in house with a FD helps out quite a bit as was proven the last time anaheim FD hired. 9/12 people hired were CARE employees.

Not just another Doctor's Ambulance thread..

Sorry I forgot to add that it has happened quite a few times that those medics working for CARE as EMTS do end up getting picked up by LA county fire, Anaheim Fire, OCFA, Fullerton, etc. Part of this is because of the relationships and networking they were able to achieve while working for the...

Not just another Doctor's Ambulance thread..

I work at CARE and there are quite a few medics at the company who work there for the 911 experience in LA county. If you are in an area long enough the medics get to know you and if they know you are a medic most will be more than willing to let you assess the pt under their supervision...

    First Interview

You work four 12 hour shifts each week same days generally. Some schedules do three 12s on Week A and four 12s hour shifts week B. So essentially you work tues/thurs/fri/sat/sun/tues/thurs with fri-mon off (you get alternating weekends off) in a two week period. Hopefully that isn't super...

requirements for being hired as EMT-B?

That is pretty awesome your program is looking to essentially double the class length, EMTs may get something useful out of the program with some added time. As for the fire medic vs private medic it is going to depend where you live. If you are in southern cali, fire is going to be the most...

requirements for being hired as EMT-B?

The above post is very accurate. However I work for a 911 company in CA and am able to take a BGL, place pt on 12 lead and use pulse oximetry as long as the FD allows it which is probably 80% of the time. I can also safely say I receive the opportunity to use all of my EMT skills (bagging...

    Per Diem EMS? Socal

Doctors most likely does not hire part time. However they will allow you to drop to part time after x amount of time maybe six months? That is how most large companies do it.

    Ellite Ambulance Service

Ahhh gotcha I know PRN, bowers and liberty actually have medic units separate from CCT. That being said it still is all IFT work and aside from a pay raise, rather dull work. Does elite run into Orange County too?
