IFT to 911 Los Angeles County?

In addition to what you have listed look into AMR in San Bernardino County. Being in Azusa, it is just as close as Care, AMR in north county or McCormick.

    AmeriCare ambulance, Southern CA

Slewy is correct. CARE is a good company and is always hiring with or without prior experience.

    Moving to Irvine. EMT-B

EKG and phlebotomy are going to be your best bet to put you above the other applicants. ER tech positions are much more difficult to obtain in SoCal than ambulance jobs because of the pay. You really need to know someone on the inside as most hospitals only hire when one tech leaves their spot...

    Tachycardic dialysis patient

That was the same reasoning I used. The patient was altered but she has a hx of dementia. I have never seen her before but the dialysis staff said she was acting normal for her mental status. That being said I don't know how valid that statement is but it was all I had to go off of.

    Tachycardic dialysis patient

That is exactly how I felt after the call but rather than get caught up in that I wanted to try to learn from the call. I want to be a paramedic and enjoy learning through my experiences to increase my knowledge for future reference.

    Tachycardic dialysis patient

I appreciate all the responses. As a basic a lot of this stuff well over my base of knowledge. That being said where do you draw the line (if there is one) between BLS transport with a short (2min hospital ETA) and ALS intervention with a patient only displaying an increased heart rate. I...

    Tachycardic dialysis patient

I have never seen that equation, learned something new. No complaints minus being cold and altered which was normal for PT due to dementia. Staff and dialysis center said she was acting as she normally does.

    Tachycardic dialysis patient

Thanks for the quick responses. All vitals were stable BP at 136/68 RR 18 SpO2 98%. I chose to transport to arrive to a very disgruntled nurse who was not approving of my decision. At hospital I waited to see how the EKG turned out and it was ST normal. It's funny that I picked up the shift as...

    Tachycardic dialysis patient

Get a call for a dialysis transfer to take patient back to her SNF. Pt is a 92 y/o female with dementia and renal disease, no cardiac. Upon finishing up dialysis treatment pt is tachy at 130. Dr at facility requests we take pt to ER rather than back home. With a 2 minute ETA to the closest...

How long did it take EMT-B's to get their 1st job?

I worked at PRN for a little while as my first EMT job. For an IFT company they are definitely one of the better ones in LA county. All supervisors and management were consistently helpful and in a good mood. Good luck on getting the job it's a good place to work.

How long did it take EMT-B's to get their 1st job?

About two months as well. Where are you looking? I would imagine the selection in Thousand Oaks is rather limited. Off the top of my head I only can think of AMR and Goldcoast. I am sure there are more. In the San Fernando Valley you have many IFT companies who will hire with no experience and...

    Care Amublance OC background check

Night shifts are generally less desired by most people. To get on one permanently isn't to hard. I was on a 911 night shift for about 3 months and it worked very well with my school schedule. I believe there is about 12-14 night shifts private/fire available ranging from start at 6pm to 11pm and...

    Care Amublance OC background check

Plenty of OT it is not uncommon for people to work 60+ hours every week if desired. Moonlighting is perfectly fine.

CARE vs. LifeLine in Orange County, CA

Slewy nailed it. Lifeline is essentially a dialysis derby no idea what 911 contract they are talking about. They will hire anyone with a pulse from people I spoke with who worked there. For CARE, I have never heard anything about not renewing 911 contracts since being bought out by Falck. I know...

    Care Amublance OC background check

There are many 911 day cars.

    Care Amublance OC background check

Typically 911 24s are the most desirable shifts so people tend to stay on them once they win the bid.

    Care Amublance OC background check

After orientation you will be floating, which means you will be scheduled for 911 shifts and IFT shifts depending on the needs of scheduling. You can start picking up 24s once you get done with drivers training. As for getting a permanent 24 as your shift, it varies from 6-10 months for an IFT...

I really enjoy it. It's a great company to work for.

Yep they are uncomfortable. Sucks having them be white as well.

Haha stick with it!! It will definitely be worth it in the end. How large is the class and are others feeling the same way?
