    MTI Woodbridge, VA

I don't have any details about their schedule but I know that the folks I see at the hospital who work for them don't look very happy. It's just a transport company so its going to be entire days filled with driving people around. Virtually no patient care.

When will we stop running code?

We don't respond code to calls such as headaches and stubbed toes. If dispatch provides us with enough info to determine that its a "nuisance" call we just drive like regular folk.

Moving from Colorado to the D.C. area

It's very easy to apply for reciprocity in VA. You just fill out a short form and send it to VAOEMS with copies of your ID and cert, and that's about it.

    Favorite Boots?

I dont even bother looking at boots that dont have side zips. They really make all the difference in the world. Letting out some of that funk that builds up in there over the course of a 24 hour shift feels soooo good.

    Deal breakers at work

I get to work 45 minutes early, but i dont expect others to do that. As long as everyone is dressed and checking out gear by 0600 i have no issues. Crews getting off shift dont just leave batteries dead and things in disarray so getting a call before we are done with checkout isnt an issue.

Single function medics under the fire service??

As mentioned, Alexandria VA has single role medics working for their FD, but there has been talk of cross training their new recruits for awhile. Still hasnt happened but you never know. Keep in mind that you will still have to go through the same hiring process that firefighters go through...

As a mature, educated, responsible, self-respecting medical professional....

Thats a great point! This thread is now about fat people... I would MUCH rather have a partner who discreetly chewed tobacco vs. a partner who was overweight. When the ish hits the fan and my life is on the line, i want somebody who can do the job effectively. Yes, i think dipping in...

    Deal breakers at work

On a lighter note, a "deal breaker" for me would be blowing up the bathroom without spraying some air freshener before you leave. COME ON DUDE.

    Deal breakers at work

Here in the civilized world, those who chew tobacco dont sling their spit all over the station. They keep it discreet, and dont leave spitters all around. And obviously never around a patient or on a call. Doesnt bother me at all. What kind of savages do you guys work with?

    Preventing lobby lock outs

Like the above poster said, some door chocks outta do the trick. There are all kinds of door chocks out there to be purchased but making them is very easy. Wedges are popular, and i like cherry bombers as well. Its just a wooden dowel with a bent nail in the top, hang it on the inside of...
