    your commute time/distance?

Depends on the time of day. Its about 25 miles which can be 20 minutes, but in Brooklyn traffic that could turn into an hour and a half ordeal.

Why Obamacare is the Best Thing To Happen To EMS Since Johnny and Roy

I don't doubt there will be chaos before change. What came up must come down before it can be rebuilt from the ground up. Buckle up.

    ETCO2 of 9

That measurement may or may not be accurate then. When she was intubated it should be re-assessed via the ET tube to see how close the numbers are. The NC type has too many variables to be completely accurate. Anything from secretions blocking the prong to exhaled air simply coming out of the...

    ETCO2 of 9

Ethylene glycol is highly toxic to humans if ingested. Was she drinking it in a suicide attempt? I can't imagine anyone drinking a substantial amount by accident...

How do you keep up your energy?

Beta-alanine I believe with a bunch of other stuff. None of those pre-workouts are good for you.

    100% Directionless Thread

Yea I know it isn't optimal. Its only somewhat good if you haven't seen the rhythms in on the game in a long time. Once you do it once its useless. I'm a medic off the ambulance for 6 months now. I only volunteer/work a flycar job which I haven't gone back to yet. So basically, I have done...

    100% Directionless Thread

Just went to read some ECGs for the first time, really easy ones on the "skillstat" game. Im embarrassed with how bad I am. Used to ace that thing. I don't think I have even put electrodes on someone in almost 6 months let alone start an IV or intubate. Granted, I've never been a master of...

why is it so difficult finding a job? NYC

Not particularly fond of the CC program... Its an easy loop-hole to allowing volunteer services to acquire ALS providers with minimal training. If paramedic isn't enough, CC sure as hell isn't... But anyway, OP monitor this site for FDNY listings. www.nyc.gov/dcas

why is it so difficult finding a job? NYC

They are basically the same as NYC with a couple additions. Nothing groundbreaking or comparable to more progressive regions of the country.

why is it so difficult finding a job? NYC

That's because no one wants to commute to SI lol. Strong Island is the place to be. Not sure. Been out of the game a little while. 911 companies are harder to get jobs with especially with no experience. Transcare is the parent to many hospital based units. St. Luke's Roosevelt...

why is it so difficult finding a job? NYC

It should not be that hard... There is plenty of jobs in NYC last I checked. You should be applying for FDNY regardless.

    Rochester, NY

Parking is very expensive in NYC. Some places in the lower/midtown area charge $20 for an hour. If you can take the train all the way in, go with that.

    Rochester, NY

Rochester is pretty close to NYC. Only like a 6 hour commute come on down.

Does everyone on this site want to get into FDNY?

When I was on the bus, I almost always had a movie to watch on my tablet or music to listen to. If we were between jobs, headphones went right on. You would think headphones signalled "Hey don't bug me unless its important im relaxing." You know how that goes...

Does everyone on this site want to get into FDNY?

Realistically, the 911 EMS system in NYC is god awful with protocols and undereducated providers to match. As stated above, it easily burns people out in a hurry. If you want to be a firefighter in NYC getting on EMS is well worth it. For the record though, I believe FDNY EMS is in fact the...
